Tibetan Medicine

Tibetan medicine is a science, art and philosophy that provides a holistic approach to health care. It is a science because its principles are enumerated in a systematic and logical framework based on an understanding of the body and its relationship to the environment. It is an art because it uses diagnostic techniques based on the creativity, insight, subtlety and compassion of the medical practitioner. And it is a philosophy because it embraces the key Buddhist principles of altruism, karma and ethics.

Dr Kunchok Palzom

The first visit to New Zealand of our Tibetan physician, Dr Kunchok Palzom, was a wonderful success and we would like to express our thanks to all those who helped with the tour in various ways. Despite the wild weather Dr Kunchok Palzom enjoyed her tour very much, made many new friends and expressed a strong wish to return as soon as possible.
Helpers and patients alike found her to be a very compassionate, skilful and warm person with a great capacity for listening and laughter.

During her month with us, Dr Palzom held clinics at Karma Choeling, in Auckland, Hamilton, Taupo, Napier and Warkworth. She held educational seminars and benefited many sick people. Altogether she saw over 100 patients, and we have had very positive feedback from many of them.
Although this was a trial tour, through the clinics we were able to cover all the tour's costs.

Since the tour was such a success, we are planning from now on to have regular visits from Dr Palzom or another physician nominated by her. Future clinics may be held in Christchurch, Nelson and other centres where interest and practical support exist. Thank you everyone for your interest and support, and we really rejoice to have made such an auspicious connection with Dr Palzom and her family. ...more
